Frequently asked questions

Helpful details to make your stay easy

Before you arrive

What should I know before arriving?

Calmwater Retreat is designed for unhurried stays in a forested setting. We recommend packing comfortable layers, walking shoes for nearby trails, and groceries if you plan to cook during your stay.

Cell service can be limited along the highway into Ucluelet, so downloading directions in advance is helpful. Weather on the coast can change quickly, especially outside of summer, and part of the experience is embracing the rhythm of the surroundings.

Sustainability & care for the place

How do you approach sustainability?

Calmwater Retreat takes a thoughtful, low-impact approach to hospitality. Each cabin is equipped with EV charging, and we’re mindful about reducing unnecessary waste — including avoiding the use of brand-new paper products between every stay when items are still clean and usable.

We use natural, non-toxic cleaning products that are safe for guests, staff, and the environment, and we encourage a slower, more mindful way of staying that respects the forest and coastline around us. Small choices add up, and caring for this place is part of the Calmwater Retreat experience.
